About Me
I make everything from scratch and I buy everything organic except if I need to buy Chinese vegetables, such as baby snow pea leaves or water spinach. I think home cooked meals taste so much better than the food that you pay for in restaurants, even if it is from somewhere nice that uses organic ingredients.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and as of right now, I am working and figuring out the next part of my life.
I love Whole Foods because everything there is just wonderful. I am really spoiled because the landmark store is only 3 minutes/one average song-length away from me :]
I was born in China, moved to Toronto, Canada, when I was 3, moved to Hong Kong when I was 8, moved to Plano, TX, when I was 15, moved to Austin when I was 18.
Some food facts about me:
- I love shrimp. The first thing I look forward to when I go back home to Hong Kong is eating FRESH LIVE SHRIMP! I love shrimp in anything. If the mantis shrimp was easier to eat (get the meat out of the shell) then it would be my favorite “exotic” shellfish to eat. *By the way, mantis shrimp isn’t really “shrimp”; it just looks like a shrimp.
- I love dim sum. I love 凤爪 (phoenix talons aka chicken feet), 蝦餃 (shrimp dumpling), 烧卖 (siu mai – the mainland and Cantonese versions), 叉烧包 (BBQ pork bun), 糯米鸡 (lotus leaf rice), 皮蛋瘦肉粥 (thousand year old duck egg & pork congee), 萝卜糕 (turnip cake), and 肠粉 (shrimp and scallop rice noodle rolls).
- Favorite dessert: tiramisu and mint chocolate chip ice-cream
- Favorite fruits: avocados, blueberries, dragon fruit, mangoes, mangosteens, papayas, pomegranates, raspberries, watermelons, and of course, strawberries.
- Favorite fish: coney reef fish and seabream (since that’s not available here), then Chilean sea bass.
- Favorite vegetables: baby snow pea leaves, winter melon, water spinach, serrated Garland Chrysanthemum, and Romano beans.
- I’m a chocolate snob. My favorite chocolates are from Brussels and Switzerland.
- Dislikes: beef, peas, Brussels sprouts,
Why Strawberry Tsunami?
Strawberry Tsunami has been my favorite smoothie from Jamba Juice since 2002. But since the tsunami hit Indonesia in 2004, activists demanded that Jamba Juice change the name of one of their smoothies. That is so lame! The name of the smoothie happened before the unfortunate disaster! Now it’s called Strawberry Surf Rider – lamest name ever! So I’ve been trying to preserve Strawberry Tsunami as much as possible.

Hi! Greeting from Down Under Australia. Surely you have some interesting recipes here. Why don’t you eat beef? I know that many Indian people (Hinduism) don’t eat beef………….
This is just getting creepy! Sea bass, berries, mint chocolate chip?!? OMG! These are a few of my favorite things! (insert Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music here
If you like Seabreem, you’ll love Black Cod. I have a Miso Black Cod recipe I’ll post sometime.
I love tiramisu, Mint chocolate chip and shrimp too! It’s very rare to meet Hong Kong folk who doesn’t like seafood of some sort!
